Shower Remodel in Delaware, OH

A shower remodel is the project for the shower you have stopped enjoying and started worrying about. We are Hayes Bath Co., and shower remodels are core work for our Delaware County crew. We remove your old shower, the tired base, the failing walls, the dated valve and fixtures, and install a new system built to fit your exact opening: a solid base that does not flex, non-porous wall panels with no grout lines to crumble, and fixtures that will still have replacement parts available in fifteen years.

A shower remodel in Delaware, OH replaces the base, walls, valve, and fixtures in your existing shower footprint, typically for $8,500–$14,500, and most are finished in one day. Call (740) 555-0100 for a free in-home design consultation and a written flat quote.

Most shower remodels we take on are finished in one day, because the new system is measured and built for your space before install day. The consultation is free, the quote is written and flat, and the price does not change when the old walls come down. If your shower is leaking, staining, cracking, or just embarrassing when guests visit, this is the page that explains how we fix it and what the work involves.

Signs Your Shower Is Done

Showers rarely fail all at once. They decline in stages, and most homeowners in Delaware, Dublin, and Powell call us at one of these stages.

  • Grout that keeps crumbling. Grout is a wear surface, and after fifteen to twenty five years it cracks, powders, and falls out. Regrouting buys a little time, but cracked grout is usually a symptom: the board behind the tile has been getting wet, and wet board swells and moves, which cracks more grout.
  • Water where it should not be. A stain spreading on the ceiling below the bathroom, soft drywall at the base of the shower wall, or a musty smell that never leaves the room all point to water escaping the enclosure, usually through failed grout, a cracked base, or a worn valve inside the wall.
  • Stained, dull fiberglass. Builder-grade fiberglass and thin acrylic surrounds from the 1980s–2000s builds across Delaware County eventually go porous. Once the gel coat wears, hard-water scale and mildew staining soak in rather than sitting on the surface, and no cleaner gets the unit white again.
  • A base that moves. If the shower floor flexes, creaks, or feels spongy underfoot, the base or the floor beneath it is failing. Hairline cracks follow, and every shower sends a little more water where it does not belong.
  • Fixtures from another era. A single-knob valve that scalds or freezes when water runs elsewhere in the house, a showerhead crusted with limestone scale, and trim that has corroded through its finish are all signs the whole system is at the end of its run, not just one part of it.
  • Caulk and seals that will not hold. When the bead where the walls meet the base keeps peeling, splitting, or growing mildew from behind no matter how often it is replaced, water is traveling behind the surface. Fresh caulk over a wet wall is a bandage on the real problem.

If two or three of those sound familiar, the shower is not a cleaning problem anymore. It is a replacement project, and catching it before the water damage spreads is the cheaper moment to act.

What a Shower Remodel Includes

A shower remodel with our crew covers the full wet area, not a cosmetic cover-up. The old shower comes out completely, base, walls, valve, and trim. With everything open, we inspect the plumbing, the drain, and the framing and subfloor around the opening, because this is the only chance anyone gets to see them.

The new system goes in on that inspected foundation. The base is solid-surface or quality acrylic, set level and properly supported so it is silent and firm underfoot. Wall panels are non-porous acrylic, waterproof through their whole thickness, with sealed seams and no grout anywhere. The valve is a name-brand, pressure-balanced unit, so a flushing toilet no longer changes your shower temperature. Trim and showerhead are chosen with you at the consultation, in finishes that suit the room.

Blocking for grab bars is installed inside the wall at sensible heights whether you want bars now or not, so adding them later is a ten-minute job instead of a wall opening. If your design includes a bench seat, a niche for bottles, or a handheld showerhead on a slide bar, all of it is planned and built into the system before install day. Glass doors or a glass panel can be fitted to most openings, or the shower can be left open for a curtain, whichever suits how your household actually uses the room.

Walk-In Showers and Low Thresholds

Many of the shower remodels we install in Delaware County are walk-in showers, because the households asking for them are planning ahead. A walk-in design removes the high tub wall and replaces it with a low threshold, typically just a few inches of curb, or in some layouts a near-level entry. Paired with a bench seat, well-placed grab bars, and a handheld showerhead, it is a shower that works for a teenager with a sports injury, a parent recovering from surgery, and a grandparent visiting for the holidays, all in the same week.

You do not need a mobility problem to want one. Homeowners across Lewis Center, Westerville, and Marysville choose low thresholds simply because stepping into a shower is easier than climbing into one, and because a walk-in shower makes a small bathroom feel noticeably larger. If easy access is part of why you are remodeling, tell us at the consultation. Threshold height, bar placement, and seat position are decisions we make with you, in your bathroom, before anything is ordered.

How Long It Takes

Most shower remodels are one-day installs. The sequence runs like our other wet-area work: we arrive in the morning and protect the floors, the old shower is out by mid-morning, the new system is set and sealed by mid-afternoon, and we walk the finished shower with you before we leave. The sealant then needs to cure, so the new shower sits unused until the next day.

A shower remodel stops being a one-day job when the project grows beyond the wet area: moving the drain to a new location, enlarging the shower into an adjoining closet, or combining the work with new flooring and a vanity. At the consultation we will tell you plainly which kind of project yours is and quote it accordingly, in writing, before you commit to anything. To book that consultation, call (740) 555-0100.

Questions

Shower Remodel questions, answered straight

How much does a shower remodel cost in Delaware, OH?+

Most shower remodels we quote land in the $9,000–$15,000 range, depending on the size of the shower, the wall system and finish you choose, fixtures, and whether glass is included. Your exact figure comes from the free design consultation as a written flat quote, and that figure does not change when the old walls come down.

Can you remodel my shower without replacing the whole bathroom?+

Yes, and that is the normal case. A shower remodel covers the wet area only. Your flooring, vanity, toilet, and the rest of the room stay exactly as they are, which is why the project can be finished in a day instead of a month.

Will a new shower fix a leak I cannot find?+

In most cases, yes. The usual sources, failed grout, a cracked base, worn seals, and an aging valve inside the wall, are all removed and replaced in a remodel. Because we open the wall and inspect the plumbing and framing during the install, a leak coming from the shower itself gets found and addressed rather than covered up.

Can my new shower have a bench and grab bars?+

Yes. A bench seat, grab bars, a handheld showerhead, and a low threshold are all options we plan with you at the consultation and build into the system. We also install grab-bar blocking inside the wall on every shower we build, so bars can be added later without opening the wall again.
